Lincolnshire County Council were awarded £20,000 from our Armed Forces Covenant Local Grants programme to deliver the year-long ‘Wings to the Past’ project, designed to bring RAF personnel and their families, and the wider community together to research, investigate, and excavate a Roman building.

We caught up with the project to find out how the military families involved were making new, positive relationships within their community.

Watch our short film to discover how archaeology is playing a vital role in bringing people together and building community cohesion.

Wings to the Past: a Local Grants project

😊Discovering new friendships, unearthing shared interests: we caught up with those taking part in the ‘Wings to the Past’ project, an archaeological dig designed to bring military families and the wider community together. The year-long project has been a huge success and a testament to the vital role funding, such as the Armed Forces Covenant Local Grants programme, can make! 🙌
